We found this place about 5 miles off the PA turnpike and had a great lunch! Nothing complex about the menu, but that didn't matter - the chicken was cooked perfectly and the coating was very light and delicious. The selection of sides was great at tasted great. The restaurant felt like I was in someone's home - the atmosphere was also good. Highly recommend to locals and travelers alike. read less

Let me just say, if you are looking for southern soul food, this is the place!!!! Fried chicken was wonderful!!!!!! Has southern spices, crispy skin and sooooo juicy!!!!! Had the "Tina Turner" mashed potatoes with "Rolling on the River" gravy. Yummy!!! Also had the "Al Green" collards and was floored. So good!!!! I've always got a hankering for good fried chicken and this wasn't a disappointment. The chicken was fresh and juicy, hot, and well seasoned. The corn muffin was delicious but a little dry. Wished there was some butter/honey provided. We didn't ask so perhaps they had some and we could have gotten some. The mac and cheese and fries weren't much to speak of, but the BBQ beans were phenomenal! They had a real nice smoky flavor and nice bits of BBQ meats.
Price was more than fair and I'd love to come back and support this nice place. read less

Now it made a 25 minute trip back to my house and was still crispy and SO moist. And loaded with flavor. Holy cow it's not greasy at all it is just so stinking good!!!
And the side dishes?!?! Oh my word the potato salad is to die for and I loved the super thick and chunky chicken gravy that came with the mashed potatoes. The collard greens were delish and so were the green beans. And the corn muffins were fantastic.
And the chicken and waffle bites were delicious. Just a little hint of maple syrup.
This man know his way around the kitchen and man alive does it show. Not to mention fantastic service with a smile!Prices are SUPER reasonable. We absolutely, positively will return!!!!
Be sure to call ahead if you have a large order. It's a small operation and they appreciate a heads up!!! read less

I gave the chicken waffle bites a try on my first visit. Was not disappointed. Quit going to KFC and come support this local business. The cornbread muffins taste homemade. Throw some butter on it and it's perfect. The mac and cheese is fantastic is mildly addicting. The staff is super friendly and they really appreciate it when you call ahead so your chicken gets the right amount of time to cook without any rush. Stop by and check them out. read less

Go eat there and you will feel like you just had a home cooked meal at someones house. The chicken is crispy, juicy and seasoned to perfection. The sides are so good you will dig through the bottom of your styrofoam container trying to get more. The desserts are great too with my favorite being the sweet potato pie. If you are in the area you can't pass it up. I have learned that it is better to call your order in 15 minutes before you will arrive so that it is ready right when you walk in the door. We’re also a popular spot for our community to gather and make connections.

BEAVER FALLS -- Mississippi Chicken Shack owner William “Art” Coleman doesn’t know much about the business benefits of Facebook or the internet. His soul music-themed restaurant on Seventh Avenue in Beaver Falls has relied instead on filling a gap in the marketplace and word-of-mouth advertising. Coleman, a Rochester resident and a retired caseworker for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, never had a dream of opening his own restaurant. The Chicken Shack’s general manager, Finis Lawson, also known as “The Chicken Man,” and cook Dorothea Barnes brought up the idea to their friend Coleman. . . .
